"The Swarm" is a global environmental thriller based on Frank Schätzing's work, depicting the abnormal behavior of marine animals in today's world and the chaos it causes. Millions of strange worms suddenly appear at the bottom of the North Sea, drilling through frozen methane and threatening the stability of the entire continental shelf. Swarms of mussels impede the maneuverability of large vessels. Toxic jellyfish, lobsters, and whales begin attacking humans along the world’s coasts. Global scientists and military forces come together to tackle the greatest challenge humanity faces. They chillingly discover that we are not the only intelligent species on this planet, and there exists a collective intelligence deep in the ocean that has been provoked by the destruction of its habitat and decides to retaliate.
