Liang Wendao said: "John Berger is the true heir of the Western leftist romantic spirit, with one hand engaging in sharp commentary in the public domain and the other hand deeply immersed in inward fictional creation." John Berger passed away this January, making this documentary a precious visual record of his later life. The film consists of four stylistically distinct short films that connect the four seasons. Set against the backdrop of Quincy, the small town where John Berger lived, it uses simple stories and poetic imagery to peel away the artist's and the celebrity's halo, revealing him as an ordinary old man, sincere and straightforward. The villagers also have their own stories. The director intertwines more historical footage into the life of the old man, providing a poetic sense of transcendence and space for imagination, resulting in a very beautiful documentary.
