Due to a kidnapping by criminals, a pair of twin brothers were separated at birth. The younger brother, "Play Hard" (Jackie Chan), was picked up and raised by a dancer, roaming the bottom of society. To help a friend with romance, he meets the singer Barbara (Maggie Cheung) and offends the underworld; the older brother, Ma You (Jackie Chan), is taken to America by a wealthy couple, receives a good education, and becomes a famous musician. When he returns to Hong Kong for a concert, he meets his benefactor's daughter, Tang Xin (Maggie Cheung). In a twist of fate, the two swap roles and enter each other's lives, leading to confusion over who is Ma You and who is "Play Hard," resulting in a series of comedic situations, and the feelings of Barbara and Tang Xin begin to change. At the concert, "Play Hard" unintentionally becomes a huge success, while Ma You, under pressure from the mafia, drives to save his kidnapped friend Tai Shan. Subsequently, the two brothers join forces to fight against their powerful enemies.
