Sato Sadato (played by Takaya Kamikawa), who runs a law firm in Tokyo, was once a prosecutor, but has now transformed into a lawyer specializing in criminal cases. One day, he receives a sudden request to defend Shimazu Kuniaki (played by Ren Osugi), a well-known construction company owner in the Mizaki area. Receiving notification just a day before the trial is certainly astonishing, but Sato and his rookie lawyer, Kosaka Chihiro (played by Kana Kurashina), head to Mizaki. The victim, Hamada Mitsuko (played by Mahiru Konno), was Shimazu's lover. Based on the scene, it is inferred that Shimazu may have been driven to murder by being pressured into marriage by her. However, Shimazu insists on his innocence.
