In 1956, 19-year-old Bobby Charlton (played by Jack O'Connell) received his first opportunity to play for Manchester United's first team with the help of assistant coach Jimmy Murphy (played by David Tennant). At that time, Manchester United was under the management of head coach Matt Busby (played by Dougray Scott) and boasted a wealth of talent with many gifted players known as "Busby's Babes." Among them were hopeful stars like Mark Jones, Duncan Edwards (played by Sam Claflin), and Eddie Colman. Manchester United was in Germany to face Bayern Munich in the European Championship, after which they needed to hurry back to England for a league match. Despite Busby’s repeated requests, the English Football Association refused to postpone the league match, forcing United to board a plane back to England immediately after the game in Germany. A snowstorm in Germany caused multiple delays in the plane's departure, and after one final attempt, disaster struck... This was the "Munich Air Disaster," in which many talented players lost their lives. How will Bobby Charlton and coach Busby lead Manchester United to rebirth? This film is a BBC television movie.
