University teacher Shang Jianfei is hosting a moon-viewing party with a group of female students when the moon suddenly turns red. Following this, a mysterious monster appears and kills several students. Shang Jianfei is initially suspected of being the murderer. Later, the librarian Chu Yiren discovers a folk tale about the Great Mother Moon Goddess from a book in Cambodian left by her father, clearing Shang's name. To uncover the truth, Shang Jianfei travels to Cambodia with Inspector Qin Yu, who is in charge of the case.
