Action movie king Zhang Che's another extraordinary work, vividly recounting the legendary deeds of the Anti-Japanese heroes of "Eight Path Tower" with a surge of patriotic sentiment. This film won the Best Narrative Feature Award at the 13th Golden Horse Awards. In 1933, the Japanese army dispatched 20,000 troops and over 50 tanks to attack the stronghold of "Eight Path Tower." Our army, outnumbered, fiercely defended "Eight Path Tower" against the Japanese assault, fighting for five days and nights, ultimately losing the stronghold. The Japanese discovered only seven mangled corpses inside, which earned their respect, leading them to erect a monument for the "Seven Heroes of China." Zhang Che, featuring members of the Zhang family troupe: Ti Lung, David Jiang, Fu Sheng, and Chan Kwan Tai, portrays these nameless heroes' touching stories. He masterfully incorporates martial arts into the large-scale war setting, blending artillery fire and muscle flawlessly. Inside "Eight Path Tower," the astonishing will of the nameless spirits is honored by Zhang Che through haunting imagery.
