This film is a work by director He Menghua from 1968. The story describes how the hero Liu Wenlong (Fang Mian) has his home raided and burned by the chaotic demon Zhou Chao (Ma Ying), his wife brutally murdered, and his son Yulang, who is hiding in a well with a loyal servant, fortunately escapes harm. Liu pursues the demon king but is injured and forced to flee. Later, Liu takes his son, servant, and apprentice Hu Zifeng (Zhang Peishan) to seek revenge. After three years of hardship, Hu grows impatient with the loneliness, assaults a village woman, and is caught by Liu. After killing the woman to escape, Liu takes in the woman's orphan, Yuchan, as his apprentice, giving up revenge and the soul-chasing dart. As Yuchan (Qin Ping) grows up, she falls in love with Lang (Yue Hua), but encounters Hu by chance, who misleads her into thinking Liu is her mother's murderer...
