Christian Clavier plays a broke detective in this film. Hired by a French minister, he investigates a terrorist organization established by Ange Loni (Jean Reno) on the island of Corsica. The detective claims to know the island, but in reality knows nothing. Upon arriving in Corsica, everyone stares at him in fear at the mention of Ange Loni's name. While searching for Ange Loni, he gets kidnapped by thugs, but a shootout occurs nearby, and the police, who are following, come to his aid and take Clavier away (because there are too many thugs). However, Detective Clavier does not escape this ordeal. Lured by Ange La (Caterina Murino), Ange Loni's sister, he surrenders willingly. After several chases, Clavier is rescued by the police. However, conflicts arise among the police, resulting in disagreements between local police and special forces. Later, with Clavier's defense of Ange Loni and Ange La, the three are released. At this time, Ange La develops feelings for this silly detective and also builds a friendship with Ange Loni. In the end, with Clavier's help, Ange Loni is acquitted by the court. Clavier also stays on Corsica, living a paradise-like life.
