Tessa (played by Josephine Langford) is a girl who has always followed the rules. To her parents, she is a well-behaved and obedient daughter; to her boyfriend, she is a considerate and understanding girlfriend; to her teachers, she is a polite and rule-abiding student. However, when she steps into college, she meets a boy named Hardin (played by Hero Fiennes Tiffin). Hardin is unlike any boy Tessa has ever met; he has a rebellious look in his eyes, an extravagant style, and an unconventional approach to everything. Tessa's first impression of Hardin is not great, but as time passes, certain unique qualities about him gradually attract her, making her yearn to be as free as he is.
