21-year-old Tyler (Robert Pattinson) is extremely rebellious, living in a cramped apartment with his roommate, immersing himself in books and nicotine all day long, with a bad temper that even leads to his arrest for fighting. Faced with his successful entrepreneur father, Charles (Pierce Brosnan), Tyler feels a deep resentment, blaming his father's neglect for his brother's suicide and his sister's precocious behavior.
