As a young boy, Gu Ruzhang inherited the family teachings and mastered a remarkable set of martial arts, with the family secret technique "Iron Sand Palm" used for settling scores. One day, Ruzhang accidentally kills Duan San Shao, the son of a powerful military governor. Upon hearing this, Gu's father deliberately expels Ruzhang from the family, forcing him to flee for his life. During his journey, he encounters a thief, and again accidentally kills the bandit Shen Lao Hei, who entrusts him with a message to visit his wife and daughter back home. Upon learning of the Shen family's poverty, Ruzhang pretends to owe debts to Shen Lao Hei and agrees to stay and work in town to repay them. Coincidentally, a competition for the King of Fighters from Seven Provinces is being held, which requires setting up a fighting arena, and Ruzhang goes to help. While working, he meets a local fighter named Wei Qi, who senses Ruzhang's hidden talents and encourages him to participate in the contest. However, Ruzhang refuses to go against his strict father's teachings and wishes to avoid trouble. The local bully, Qian Shiren, seeks to claim the throne of the fighter king and murders Wei Qi and the father-daughter pair A-Hua. When Ruzhang can no longer tolerate the injustice, he steps in to fight in Wei Qi's place and wins the title. Qian and his sister, harboring resentment, attempt to ambush Ruzhang, forcing him to unleash his Iron Sand Palm and kill the Qian siblings, continuing his life as a wanderer.
