Yuki and Ai are a long-term couple still in the closet. Their love began in a bar when Yuki comforted Ai, who was struggling at work, by bringing up the topic of cake flavors, revealing their starkly different tastes. What kind of spark will arise when the rich bitterness of matcha meets the sweet romance of vanilla? After Yuki is diagnosed with terminal cancer, how do they face the pressures from family, hospitals, and society together in Japan's traditionally conservative culture, while continuing to support each other? Director Hamish Downie, an Australian screenwriter working in Japan, has won numerous awards for his short film An American Piano (2014). This time, he invited the experienced stage actress Qyoko Kudo to participate and partnered with an award-winning production team to create this first feature film, hoping to support the push for marriage equality in Japan.
