Young scientist Seth (played by Jeff Goldblum) has just invented an "electric transporter" that can disassemble objects and automatically reassemble them after transport. Excited, Seth decides to personally experience the electric transport and steps into the transporter. Unfortunately, a fly also enters the transporter at that moment, and when the machine reassembles Seth's disassembled molecules, it inadvertently incorporates the fly's molecules into Seth's body. Seth becomes a creature with half fly genes.
