The film "Doumanjiang" depicts the story of a young defector who illegally crosses the Tumen River from North Korea to a small village on the Chinese border (Xintian Village, Jiangyan Township, Tumen City, Jilin Province). Doumanjiang, known as the Tumen River in China, is located on the border between China and North Korea. The protagonist of the film is a 12-year-old boy named Changhao, who has a mute sister, Shunxi, an elderly grandfather, and a mother who works in South Korea. His father drowned in the Doumanjiang while trying to save his sister who had fallen into the water. Changhao becomes friends with a North Korean boy named Zhengzhen who crosses the river and loves football.
