Apoll (Sofia Carson) is a talented dancer, but she also has the common flaw that all geniuses possess, which is being too self-centered. As a result, Apoll is kicked out of Broadway and, left with no choice, she returns to her long-lost home in Wisconsin, where she reunites with her father Frank (Enrico Colantoni). Apoll, who returns home disheveled, just wants to hide alone and doesn’t want to see anyone, including her first love Nick (Wolfgang Novogratz). Her former dance teacher Barbie (Donna Lynne Champlin) extends an olive branch to Apoll, inviting her to train a group of inexperienced young dancers in town.
