After the September 18 Incident, Northeast China fell, and an actor from a theater troupe in Tianjin, Chen Peter (played by Chen Peisi), refused to be a slave of a fallen nation and vowed to become a national hero. One day, while a patriotic play was being performed at the theater, the male lead quit the show. In a last-minute rescue, the director (played by Zhao Yong) had no choice but to let Chen Peter take over, leading to great success. General Song (played by Hou Yongsheng), who was watching the performance, praised Chen's acting. At that time, General Song came to Tianjin to procure arms for the anti-Japanese forces but was unexpectedly attacked by the Japanese spy Long Tairang (played by Chen Peisi) and narrowly escaped. Long Tairang tricked Chen Peter into attempting to assassinate him again, but due to unforeseen circumstances, Long Tairang’s men ended up getting killed instead, and General Song survived, forming a friendship with Peter.
