The death of the great director Akira Kurosawa was dubbed "the fall of the sun," leaving countless people lamenting. As an assistant director who followed Kurosawa for 28 years, Yoshifumi Koizumi makes his directorial debut with this unfinished work by Kurosawa—an adaptation of the period piece based on the original work by Shūgorō Yamamoto. Mizusawa Ibe, although skilled in swordsmanship, has poor luck in his official career. Wandering the world with his wife, they are unable to cross the river due to continuous torrential rain and can only stay at a small inn. One day, he single-handedly stops a fight among young samurai, catching the admiration of the lord Nagai Izumi Moriyasu, and it seems that a dawn of success might appear on his official path...
