In the year 700 during the prosperous Tang Dynasty, China had many exchanges with Arabia and the Middle East in terms of economy and culture. The Silk Road in the Western Regions served as a vital route for mutual interaction, and to defend its integrity, the Tang army continuously engaged in confrontations with the Turks. The border defense officer Li (Jiang Wen), unwilling to slaughter elderly, women, and children of the Turkish captives, became a wanted criminal for violating military orders.
