Just newly freed, John (Dax Shepard) walks back into prison, not for any other reason than revenge. It turns out that John's current stint in prison is on a mission—to protect the prosecutor's son, Nelson (Will Arnett). This prosecutor is none other than the one responsible for John's repeated imprisonment. As debts are paid by the next generation, as soon as John arrives next to Nelson, he sells him to the terrifying gay mob boss Barry (Chi McBride). John thinks Nelson is about to face inhumane treatment, but to his surprise, Nelson sparks Barry's love and tenderness, and soon the two develop a deep connection. Thus, Nelson transforms from a prison novice into the notorious "prison wife." In despair, John realizes that the days ahead will not be easy.
