Louis Drax is a problematic child: smart, mature for his age, full of lies, and always involved in dangerous, unsettling accidents. At the age of 9, he has experienced eight accidents: the first, a difficult birth for his mother; the second, suffering from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome; the third, a seizure, not breathing for nine and a half minutes; the fourth, falling onto the tracks of the Lyon subway, suffering 85% electrical burns... The ninth, tragically falling off a cliff, but miraculously surviving two hours after doctors pronounced him dead, though his family is left shattered as a result.
