In an old apartment in eastern Tokyo, lives a chubby painter, Tatsuya Fukuda (portrayed by Miyuki Oshima). He has an average appearance but a positive attitude, earning the trust of his colleagues on the construction site and mediating disputes between his neighbor, Maeda, who keeps pythons, and a young man with a criminal record for theft. However, Afu has a fatal flaw: he struggles to interact with women. His friend, Takuro Shimaki (portrayed by Yoshiyoshi Arakawa), constantly worries about Afu's love life and tries to set him up with potential partners. This bothers Afu, leading to arguments with his friend, and during their meetings, he deliberately ignores the presence of the girls he's supposed to be dating.
