Toto (Francesco Golisano) was abandoned by his parents at a very young age. Fortunately, he met a kind old lady, Lolotta (Emma Gramatica), and the two depended on each other, spending a period filled with warmth and happiness together. However, this good fortune was short-lived. After Lolotta's death, Toto's life fell into hardship once again, and in desperation, he had to seek refuge in the slums. In a chance encounter, people discovered a valuable oil well in the slums. The wealthy set their sights on it, attempting to drive the poor away. Despite the poor's determination to resist, they were still outmatched. Upon hearing this news, the spirit of Lolotta sent a “magical dove” to help the poor, but good times didn't last long. The magical dove was captured by the “hunter angels,” and the poor found themselves in dire straits once more.
