Chekhov (played by Boris Chirkov), Rabin (played by Aleksandr Bashirov), and Nestratov (played by Vasili Merkuryev) are childhood friends with a very close bond. After growing up, the three took different paths: Chekhov became a famous surgeon, Rabin became a livestock expert, and Nestratov, the most successful among them, became the head of a construction management bureau. Chekhov and Rabin have always wanted to fulfill their childhood dream—a journey along the river. They finally managed to contact the lofty Nestratov, but when they brought him to their makeshift craft—a rickety wooden raft that looked like it could collapse at any moment—Nestratov was shocked!
