Bernwart (played by August Diehl) is the son of a Nazi poet who was favored by Hitler and published a series of poems praising the Nazi spirit. Now, Bernwart and his wife Enselin (played by Lena Lauzemis) are sorting through those unpublished works, hoping they can inject new strength into today's literary world. During the process of organizing the works, Bernwart and Enselin's political views gradually change. Bernwart has a secret lover, Rose (played by Maria-Victoria Dragus), whom he has been seeing for years. The naive Enselin believes they can form a unique three-person household, but she often quarreles with her husband out of jealousy. Later, Enselin also becomes the lover of Andreas (played by Alexander Fehling).
