"The New Recruit" tells the story of rich kid Ken (played by Chen Wei'en) who, after graduating high school, receives a conscription notice from Singapore. His mother (played by Hong Ai Ling) tries everything to help her son postpone his military service, but to no avail. Ken reluctantly enters the army, where he meets boastful Wang Luobang (played by Wang Weilun), sycophantic Waylang (played by Lin Junliang), and the unimpressive IP man (played by Ye Rongyao). Ken and Luobang frequently come up with various excuses to avoid drills. One day, Ken learns that his girlfriend has moved on, and in an attempt to win her back, he pushes himself to the brink of illness.
