Cristian Pandero is a young university lecturer and a hotshot prosecutor, being groomed by his boss for rapid advancement. Pandero is a career pawn in a complex corruption case, with the defendant being Bogdan Laica (played by Alin Florea), a prosecutor previously involved in smuggling charges against a prominent political dynasty. However, he soon becomes suspicious of the case, suspecting that he is being used as a pawn in a dark power game orchestrated by the security services and corrupt government insiders. Pandero is an idealist with strong moral convictions, but also a ruthless womanizer who deceives his partner Dora (played by Andreea Vasiliu) and his female students. When he withdraws from Laica's case on principle, he finds himself suspended, hit with fabricated criminal charges, and threatened with vague extortion over his colorful private life. Paranoid, he suspects everyone around him to be a spy or a traitor. His position against injustice sadly comes to an end.
