In 1909, a Danish Arctic expedition led by Captain Ejnar Mikkelsen (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) attempted to refute American claims to northeastern Greenland, stemming from the belief that Greenland was actually two islands. Mikkelsen left the crew on the ship and started a journey across the ice with inexperienced crew member Iver Iversen (played by Joe Cole). The two successfully found evidence that Greenland was a single island, but the return to the ship took much longer than expected, as they faced unimaginable difficulties. Amid extreme hunger, fatigue, and attacks from polar bears, they finally reached the ship, only to discover that it had been damaged and their camp abandoned. Hoping for rescue, they now must fight for survival. As time passes, their grasp on reality begins to weaken, with distrust and paranoia growing within them, becoming dangerous obstacles to their struggle for survival. "The Polar Journey" is based on a true story and explores the incredible power of friendship, love, and mutual support.
