In the Echizen region of Fukui Prefecture, the reclusive washi craftsman Gansei (played by Saburo Ishikura) lives alone. Since the death of his wife, he has further shut himself off, refusing to communicate with anyone. One day, Gansei falls ill and becomes bedridden, suffering from partial paralysis that leaves him unable to care for himself. During this time, a foreign girl named Yuna (played by Kim Ha-woo) unexpectedly enters his life. Yuna, who is from South Korea and has been living aimlessly without a job, comes to Japan by chance. She unintentionally becomes Gansei’s helper, but the stubborn old man rejects her presence. The two people, who come from completely different nationalities, languages, eras, and life backgrounds, inevitably clash intensely. However, amidst this series of confrontations, they gradually come to understand each other's hearts and souls…
