In the early 20th century, golf was merely a game for British aristocrats and gentlemen, with the lower classes not deemed worthy to touch it; it was undoubtedly a symbol of status and power. Young Francis Ouimet (played by Matthew Knight) came from a humble background and often worked as a caddy to help support his family. During this time, his love for golf quietly took root in his heart. He worked diligently and, with his natural talent, gradually grew into an outstanding amateur player. In 1913, Francis had the chance to participate in a prestigious open tournament filled with gentlemen, where he would not only face his idol, Harry Vardon (played by Stephen Dillane), but also become a significant figure in rewriting the history of golf... This film is adapted from Mark Frost's bestselling novel of the same name, based on a true story from the world of golf.
