Akira (played by Kasumi Arimura) lives a happy, harmonious life with her husband Shuhei (played by Takataka Aoki) and her adopted son Shunya (played by Ryusei Mikuma). One day, she suddenly receives news of Shuhei's death, and Akira's nightmare begins. With Shunya, Akira returns to Shuhei's hometown of Kagoshima, deciding to start a new life there, where her father-in-law Yoshio (played by Jun Kunimura), whom she has never met, lives. Yoshio is a very reserved and serious man. Although he feels surprised by Akira and Shunya's sudden visit, he doesn't say much, and thus the three of them begin their life together under one roof. Shuhei's biggest childhood dream was to become a train conductor, and influenced by his father, Shunya is also full of aspirations for electric trains. In order to fulfill the joint dream of Shuhei and Shunya, Akira decides to work hard with the goal of becoming a train driver.
