Jeremy, also known as Powder, tragically gets struck by lightning on the way to the hospital. After giving birth to Powder, who is hairless and resembles a person with albinism (played by Sean Patrick Flanery), she passes away. Powder faces rejection and disdain from his father. His grandparents raise him, but to protect him from the discrimination of outsiders, they keep him confined in the basement for over a decade. During this time, Powder has no contact with the outside world, finding solace only in various books. This quiet existence is finally shattered when his grandparents die. Police and social workers discover Powder's existence and bring him back into the normal world. At school, Powder faces mockery from his classmates, who are also fearful of his unique supernatural abilities. Can Powder truly integrate into such a strange world?
