Forrest (played by Tom Hanks) was born shortly after the end of World War II in a secluded town in Alabama, USA. He has an intellectual disability with an IQ of only 75, but his mother, a strong-willed woman, often encourages him that "stupid people have stupid luck" and urges him to persevere. Forrest attends school like any other child and meets his lifelong friend and beloved Jenny (played by Robin Wright). Under the care of Jenny and his mother, Forrest begins a lifelong journey of running, thanks to the "fast legs" God has gifted him. Forrest becomes a football superstar, a Vietnam War hero, a ping-pong diplomacy ambassador, and a billionaire, but he can never forget Jenny. Their brief reunions and farewells deepen Forrest's longing for her. One day, Forrest receives a letter from Jenny, and they are finally going to meet again...
