On a night in 1920s Shanghai, young worker Zhao Zhilong is killed by Nationalist military police for participating in a strike, turning the bridal chamber into a mourning hall. His newlywed wife, A Ying, is heartbroken. However, A Ying is even more worried about her junior, A Long, whose fiery temperament and hatred for evil cannot allow him to remain indifferent to his senior brother's tragic death. A Long indeed rushes back to Shanghai from afar, vowing to avenge his brother.
