In the 1950s, in a certain city. A Fu (played by Li Shoucheng)'s father, Zhang Qixin (played by Qi Heng), is the supply section chief of a factory. One day, he brings home a sample of a Soviet-made oil drilling bit, but unexpectedly, A Fu sells it to an old man (played by Li Baoluo) who collects scrap. With the money he earned from the sale, he buys a parachute from his classmate Yongxiang (played by Tian Feng).
