A-Jin (played by Michelle Yeoh), a mainland martial arts master who comes to Hong Kong to make a living, initially can only work as a stunt double in film studios. Due to her exceptional skills and hard work, she quickly becomes a female martial artist and partners with the martial arts choreographer Pi Li (played by Sammo Hung). After A-Jin meets SAM (played by Wong Chia-hung), she falls in love and leaves the film set to go to Shenzhen with him, helping him manage the karaoke business. Gradually, she realizes that her role in SAM's life is similar to that of a "bodyguard," and with SAM's flirtatious nature, A-Jin, unable to endure any longer, leaves Shenzhen with a broken heart and returns to Hong Kong to the life she once had in the film studio. With encouragement from Pi Li, she rebuilds her confidence and quickly finds herself again. Soon, Pi Li is killed by the gang while mediating a conflict among martial artists, and his son Ya Lang faces the danger of being killed. In a critical moment, A-Jin bravely confronts the gang with Ya Lang, engaging in a life-and-death struggle.
