The debut directorial film by Yoshihiro Hanano, "The Woman in the Rain," will be released in 2016. This work is an adaptation of his original script by Yoshihiro Hanano, a musician known for his wide-ranging works in electronic music and orchestral pieces, as well as film scores for directors such as Hou Hsiao-hsien and Jia Zhangke. The story follows a lonely man named Norio, who adopts the alias "Kenji," disguising himself with glasses and a hearing aid every morning to go to work. His gradual attraction to a woman with secrets he takes into his home causes him to lose his identity as "Kenji." Aoki Takahiro, known for his role as Sagara Sonosuke in the "Rurouni Kenshin" film series, plays the protagonist Norio, who lives as a different person due to past mistakes and avoids interactions with others. The mysterious woman who captivates Norio, while also carrying darkness and choosing not to share about herself, is portrayed by Ito Ohno, who has upcoming projects like "Tenshi no Chasuke" and "Wasureyuki." Hanano commented on his reasons for challenging himself as a film director: "Music is a very abstract art form. When I wanted to depict the essence of humanity and tell a story, that became cinema." Regarding the casting of Aoki and Ohno, he stated, "I believed I could depict Aoki Takahiro and Ito Ohno, who are unknown to everyone. Aoki seems robust but is actually very delicate and meticulous. I feel a precariousness and strength in Ohno, like a butterfly just before it emerges. In this film, viewers will surely see two individuals they have never encountered before." Additionally, the film is currently running a project on the crowdfunding platform "Motion Gallery" until April 30 to raise part of its production costs.
