The famous Kabuki actor Nakamura Yoshinojo (played by Hasegawa Ichifu) suffered the tragic loss of his parents due to the treachery of a villain during his childhood. Orphaned at a young age, Yoshinojo was fortunate to meet the kind-hearted Kabuki actor Nakamura Kikunojō (played by Ichikawa Chūsha). Kikunojō took him in as his apprentice, imparting his dancing and swordsmanship skills and swearing to help Yoshinojo seek revenge. Years flew by, and Yoshinojo grew into an outstanding Kabuki performer capable of standing on his own. He and his master traveled to Edo, where they finally discovered their enemy—former Nagasaki magistrate—Tsuchibe Sansai (played by Nakamura Ganjiro). The fire of vengeance ignited within him... This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Mikami Otokichi and won the Best Art Direction award at the 1964 Mainichi Film Awards.
