Miriam (played by Martina Gedeck) has a happy family, with a mutual trust and intimacy with her husband Andrew (played by Peter Davor); she shares a deep understanding and open communication with her son Niels (played by Lucas Kotarani). One day, Niels brings his girlfriend Livia (played by Svea Lohde) home for a vacation, and soon, Miriam discovers that Livia seems to have a relationship with a man named Bill (played by Robert Seeliger) that goes beyond friendship. Driven by curiosity, Miriam begins to get closer to Bill, only to find herself attracted to his gracious and refined demeanor, turning her into a rival for Livia's affection.
