As a political pawn, Navy intelligence officer O'Neil (Demi Moore) becomes the first female officer in U.S. history to undergo training with the Special Forces "Navy SEALs." This event helps Senator DeHaven (Anne Bancroft), who has long advocated for gender equality, gain numerous votes. However, the self-serving DeHaven is not at all concerned about O'Neil's feelings or experiences as an individual, knowing full well that O'Neil is unlikely to complete the brutal and terrifying training of the Special Forces. Surprisingly, O'Neil not only excels in her training but may even pass the final exam to become a formal member of the Special Forces. At this critical moment, DeHaven resorts to underhanded tactics, using a false accusation of O'Neil being a lesbian to expel her from the team. With the help of friends, O'Neil exposes DeHaven's conspiracy, and not only that, during a real combat mission, she showcases her skills and earns the respect of her peers.
