"The Season of Ripe Bayberries" has won multiple awards at the 10th Barcelona Universal International Film Festival, the 7th Chilean Southern Film Academy Awards, and the 16th Jaipur International Film Festival in India. Based against the backdrop of the bayberry harvest season, the film explores the complex relationship between people and land, tradition and modernity through the protagonist’s journey of self-discovery while choosing between rural and urban life. This is a heartwarming film focused on bayberries along the road to common prosperity, depicting the moving story of a young village secretary leading the villagers to revitalize their community. It is also the first film made by the people of Lanxi. The story takes place in Changle Village in Xilan Town, with Lanxi as the backdrop, and was filmed entirely in Lanxi, involving locations such as Zhuge Bagua Village, Youbu Ancient Town, and Xia Li Village, with most of the supporting actors being local villagers. The film is rooted in the era of rural revitalization and narrates the story of Zhang Shuqing, a "post-90s" village secretary and CPPCC member, leading the villagers of Changle Village in Xilan Town towards common prosperity. Undoubtedly, the process of achieving rural revitalization is arduous and tortuous, but ultimately, with the joint efforts of Zhang Shuqing and the villagers, Changle Village transformed from an overlooked ancient village to a well-known "bayberry internet-famous village." In the film, Changle Village features an ancient village landscape, a performance stage, a morning tea street, and a vast bayberry forest. According to village secretary Zhang Shuqing, these are all the village's developmental advantages, "especially beautiful, especially delicious." He hopes to leverage these "two special features" to boost rural tourism and proposed the idea of pre-selling bayberries, leading the villagers to invest in the sale of bayberries. Clearly, many people were skeptical of this idea, even calling him particularly foolish and annoying. After several setbacks, the pre-sale of bayberries eventually gained the support of the majority, though the process was not smooth, leading to instances of deception, and Zhang Shuqing faced doubts from the villagers. In the face of unexpected events, he dared to confront the difficulties, bravely took responsibility, and self-funded to open a bayberry processing factory with the villagers, launching a series of products centered around bayberries, thus achieving the integration of the bayberry industry with common prosperity, rural revitalization, and the development of agriculture and tourism.
