A hundred years ago, black-and-white silent films were all the rage in Japan, captivating both adults and children. Juntaro (played by Ryo Narita) often sneaks into theaters to listen to free movies, whether they are Japanese films or foreign ones, and can always mimic the narrator's tone to perfection. Becoming a "narrator" has been Juntaro's dream since childhood, but he grows up to become a "phony narrator" who distracts the audience's attention, allowing thieves to make their move. During one close call, he escapes with stolen money to a small-town theater called "Aoki-kan," where he encounters various narrators: a drunken one, a pretty-boy, and a chubby narrator, among others. With the help of the film projectionist, musicians, and frugal theater owner couple, he explores the behind-the-scenes world of movies. However, a group of thieves and a passionate police officer are in hot pursuit, while his first love, the girl he watched movies with in childhood, reappears. Additionally, there's a trendy new theater in town where the owner's daughter has fallen madly in love with him. Where will Juntaro's youthful romantic dreams lead...?
