After the three major campaigns, our East China Field Army, under the orders of the Central Committee, strategically surrounded Shanghai. Commander Tang Yunfu (played by Wang Ban) of the Shanghai-Hangzhou garrison led 300,000 Kuomintang troops to stubbornly resist and prepared for a decisive battle with our army. According to the Central Committee's instructions, our army adhered to the operational strategy of liberating Shanghai while preserving the city, luring the enemy's main force to the outskirts for annihilation.
