This is a true film that authentically depicts the history of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. As the U.S. military intervenes in the Pacific theater, the Japanese military's top commander Isoroku Yamamoto (played by Sô Yamamura) believes that the U.S. forces are powerful and that a swift victory is necessary; a prolonged war with the Americans is inadvisable. Thus, the operation to attack Pearl Harbor, which he meticulously planned, officially commenced. Although the U.S. military had learned from intercepted Japanese communications that a surprise attack might happen, most dismissed the information and did not report the contents of the messages. Even on the day of the attack, when a soldier discovered unusual aircraft on the radar, U.S. commanders still believed those were their own planes conducting patrols. Ultimately, this led to the success of the Japanese surprise attack, resulting in severe losses for the U.S. military. Isoroku Yamamoto became the biggest target for the Americans.
