In 1913, Qian Wuyi (played by Xu Jinchang) brought foreigners to seize the family treasure, resulting in the tragic massacre of the Hua family. Hua Yingxiong (played by Zheng Yijian) kills all the foreigners in his rage. He reluctantly bids farewell to his wife, Jieyu (played by Yang Gongru), and escapes to America to work as a laborer, enduring unfair treatment due to racial discrimination, and eventually rebels and flees. Jieyu, pregnant, goes to America with the help of Yuan Wu (played by Yuan Biao), the owner of the Chinese restaurant, while Yingxiong is rescued by a ghost servant. The couple reunites. On the night Jieyu gives birth to twins, the Chinese restaurant is set on fire by the "Five Arts" people, and Jieyu dies; the baby girl is kidnapped while the baby boy is taken in by a friend, Shengnu (played by Lin Xiaofeng).
