Charlie (Mark Wahlberg) could have spent the rest of his life enjoying the box of gold he had stolen, but his partner Steve (Edward Norton) betrayed him, throwing everything into chaos. Steve not only kept the huge sum for himself and fled to Los Angeles, but he also caused Charlie to suffer greatly in prison. Now out of prison, Charlie is determined to settle the score with Steve. He recruits a theft expert—beautiful Stella (Charlize Theron) to crack safes, while he and his other accomplices design a smooth escape route for a quick getaway. Stella goes to lure Steve into a trap, but the cunning Steve sees through it. Meanwhile, Charlie quickly sabotages the traffic light system in Los Angeles, resulting in an enormous traffic jam. However, to their surprise, escaping is not so simple—Steve does not chase them in a car; instead, he uses a helicopter to relentlessly pursue them from above. The underground tunnels and streets of Los Angeles become a chaotic battleground.
