Sherlock Holmes (played by Robert Downey Jr.) is extraordinarily logical even when putting others to death; however, while methodical in solving cases, he is a complete "freak" in his private life, at least in the eyes of his assistant Dr. Watson (played by Jude Law). Their arrest of the "dark wizard" Lord Blackwood (played by Mark Strong) is accompanied by his dying words that death is merely the beginning, after which Irene Adler (played by Rachel McAdams) appears, asking him to help find a missing person, accompanied by a terrifying shadowy figure. Rumors suggest that the dark wizard has resurrected, his grave has been disturbed, and the person lying in the coffin is someone else. It’s time for Sherlock Holmes to take action again, but the investigation is fraught with dangers from the very start, with Dr. Watson nearly losing his life during the process, and Holmes becomes entangled in a series of mysteries. This film is adapted from the famous comic of the same name, authored by Lionel Wigram. Nominated for two Oscars for Best Art Direction and Best Original Score at the 82nd Academy Awards, and Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy at the 67th Golden Globe Awards for Robert Downey Jr.
