Jack Conrad (played by Stone Cold Steve Austin) was originally a death row inmate in a prison in the Midwest of the United States. Just as he was about to face the electric chair, he was sold by a corrupt prison warden to a television station. The producer of the station planned a new show, selecting 10 muscular, agile, and brutal death row inmates from around the world, placing them on a deserted island where they would kill each other. Only those who can eliminate their opponents and survive for 30 hours would have a chance of escape. The entire fighting process was transmitted through cameras in multiple angles to audiences worldwide, and bloodthirsty viewers eagerly purchased this crazy reality show. Jack must fight fiercely to survive among these dangerous inmates... [Background] *The bald male lead is the famous WWE wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin, whose status and achievements are on par with The Rock, who entered the film industry earlier. If we consider the custom heavyweight championship belt made specifically for WWE, SCSA's achievements are actually greater than those of the latter. *Since the establishment of its film division, WWE has prominently released movies starring three wrestlers: 1. Kane in "See No Evil"; 2. John Cena in "The Marine"; 3. SCSA in "Death Row Showdown". In terms of box office, "The Marine" is the highest, followed by "See No Evil," while "Death Row Showdown" was poorly received both in box office and reviews. However, in terms of return on investment, "See No Evil" is undoubtedly the biggest winner. *Among the death row inmates, there is a husband-and-wife duo, with the husband being the wrestler Wildman, who was active in WWE (then known as WWF) in the mid-1990s. To my memory, he only won the Intercontinental Championship, which is one tier below the WWF Championship. His ex-girlfriend Sable had posed nude for PLAYBOY twice and later married another wrestler much younger than herself. Her husband, Brock Lesnar, was a WWE Champion, but later had a falling out with the organization, left, and transitioned to mixed martial arts, fighting for the largest MMA organization in the U.S., UFC, where he is now the heavyweight champion. *The overall structure of the film is inspired by Kinji Fukasaku's "Battle Royale," which coincidentally is a type of competition in the wrestling world where all wrestlers fight on the ring and must throw their opponents out of the top rope to win, with the last one remaining being the victor.
