On a stretch of the Mekong River known as the "Gates of Hell," two Chinese merchant ships were attacked by unidentified gunmen. Shortly after, the Thai military held a press conference accusing the Chinese ships of trafficking drugs. Although the conference claimed that all crew members had escaped, thirteen brutally murdered bodies of Chinese crew members were soon discovered. This audacious case left the Chinese police shocked. Gao Gang (played by Zhang Hanyu), the head of the Yunnan Province Narcotics Control Team, was ordered to lead a special task force to Thailand and collaborate with intelligence officer Fang Xinwu (played by Eddie Peng).
