On her wedding anniversary, CIA agent Evelyn Salt (Angelina Jolie) is tasked with interrogating a Russian spy who has surrendered. The spy claims to have infiltrated the U.S. since the 1980s and reveals that a master spy has trained several children to become spies, embedding them in ordinary American families to wait for the opportunity to assassinate the U.S. president. To the shock of all the agents present, the Russian identifies Salt as one of these children. Despite the CIA agents' objections, Salt insists on returning home. After a thrilling chase, she temporarily escapes the pursuit of her former comrades. Soon, as the Russian president visits the U.S., Salt becomes embroiled in various conspiracies, and her true identity becomes increasingly ambiguous...
